Curriculum models are designed to have a basis for decisions regarding the selection, structuring, and sequencing of educational experiences. It also serves as a format for the curriculum design developed to meet the needs, contexts, and purposes. A curriculum model and planning suitable and relevant for 21st-century learners is Oliva's model of curriculum. Oliva's model is a deductive approach to curriculum development that focuses first from the general down to specific. It is simple yet comprehensive and systematic, which recognizes students' particular needs and interests and tackles how to solve society's issues, and specifies subject-matters' requirements. To some extent, curriculum developers must design, rearrange one or more key curriculum components in models to address society's demands.
