SAYUP Synopsis

One thing to notice here is that, in the movie itself, you probably mistaken what was merely changing in the characters or you might ask “Who’s behind that?”. But surely, your thoughts will give a significant impact along the film. The film revolves in the two main characters, students, Hannah Cagadas and Rigelyn Medalla wherein bullying and discrimination made a great dilemma towards the bullied.

Hannah Cagadas, the bullied, is a schizophrenic child who habitually oppressed by her classmates especially the brat girls in their section. Over and over, Hannah partake all the intimidations, threats and grieves, and every minute of her life seems to be miserable. Not until, her mourns turned to be the reason in leaving the cruel world—she decided to commit suicide.

Rigelyn Medalla, the bully, is a spoiled child and over pampered by her parents. The unduly canniness of her parents made her to become brat, a rough necked girl, and strangling someone is just a play for her. In the film, she is a nightmare of Hannah’s life and her rascality and aggrievance urges Hannah to commit suicide. However, during the counseling, she insisted that she was not guilty about Hannah’s death and she just found Hannah’s body hanging without any clue about the reason.

Later, the time and happening made Rigelyn realized that an existence of individuals must be valued without judging base on egocentricity and subjectivity. And that, the theme of the film “Sayup” drives with the “worthiness of life”. Though, Rigelyn can’t have the way to bring back the life of Hannah and ask forgiveness but she believes she can have the reason to change and inspire others—from “kasayupan” to “katarungan”.
