Khajuraho Temple

Khajuraho sculptures depict as a manual of love making which can be seen around the walls of the temples. The story of Hemavathy and the moon is a product why the Chandela Dynasty was built, and because of their story, their son, Chandravarman, who was raised and promised by the celestial moon god to rule over a kingdom, built temples with sculptures depicting human passions and the futility of the same. There are a lot of other beliefs who are also showing erotic paintings and sculptures like the Tantric cult and beliefs (Yogini Temple). They believe that sculpture are metaphors and are actually a form of language, a form of educating the various doctrines of the cult through symbols and imagery.

Many of Hindu temples shows an explicit display of sexual acts or its symbols. The Hindu tradition treat kama, the “desire, wish, longing”, as an essential and a proper part of human life. Others stated that It is part of being a human to feel earthly desires—it what makes us humans.

In my point of view, exhibiting these guides doesn't actually degenerate their moral views. The Hindus percieved these manuals as ordinary. It conform to their standard that exempted it from degeneration.

Seeing the sculptures for the first time from a documentary video honestly felt odd. As a person who grew up in a Christian way, I find it displeasing to see repulsive acts, such as coitus, which we considered as a taboo in our society.

When we talk of being a Christian, it is common for people to say that we are conservative. Hence, we can state that being a conservative is one of our cultural attitudes. Somehow, the way I responded to the sculptures from the Khajuraho temple maybe influenced by my religion and the distinctness of our culture.
